Chelinda Lodge, Nyika National Park accommodation
High on the Nyika plateau, with panoramic vistas of Malawi’s rolling montane grasslands, Chelinda Lodge comprises eight double story cabins. The rustic cabins are built from logs and stone and linked via wooden walkways. Each cabin has an open plan bedroom and lounge, an en suite bathroom with a shower and bath, a log fire to keep out the chill, and an upstairs living room that opens onto a private patio with a magnificent outlook. Chelinda Lodge places emphasis on the quality of food and full breakfasts, lunches and three course dinners are all served in the main building.
Chelinda Camp overlooks a stocked trout dam and is made up of six en suite, twin bedded rooms, with log fires and a main restaurant, bar and shop. Ther are four self contained, self catering cottages (but residents can take meals in Chelinda Camp’s main restaurant if desired); and a campsite with hot and cold showers and flush toilets. Experienced guides lead visitors on safari activities, which include exploring the surrounding wilderness in a game viewing vehicle and on foot, horseback or mountain bikes. Nyika National Park is home to elephant, leopard, eland, roan antelope and five hundred species of birds.
